One of the premier wrestling companies in the U.S. Rocky Mountain National (RMN) Events, is working together with the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), bringing to Southern California a never before seen women’s tournament that will feature the best grapplers in California and throughout the country.

Wrestling fans can’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime event that is scheduled to take place on January 6th, at the Anaheim Convention Arena. The sanctioned high school event will host two tournaments, one for youth wrestlers ages 6-15, and the high school tournament that will feature the best individuals and teams in the golden state.

The tournament will be under the supervision of the 2013 CIF state women’s champions Northview High, the single school to finish top 10 in the state since its inceptive year in 2010. The Vikings, which are anchored by Coach Chris Lopez, a CIF state champion himself, knows that it is essential to promote women’s wrestling in such a hot-bed state as California.

“Everyone is looking for girls to not just compete against girls in our own state but against the best competition in the country.  It is exciting that RMN Events is making this possible,” mentions Chris Lopez.

Many of the female athletes in California have gone on to have success in such events as Fargo, Body Bar Nationals, and the Women’s College Wrestling Association (WCWA).  Women’s wrestling became an Olympic sport in 2004, and according to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) 2016-17 participation survey, girls wrestling is the fastest-growing sport for high school girls (regarding percentage increase). Girl high school wrestlers grew to 14,587 athletes, an increase of 1,091 wrestlers from the previous year.

The brainchild idea of Ed Gutierrez, CEO of RMN Events, he knows the sacrifices women wrestlers go through inside the practice rooms. He wants to make sure that our counterparts have an event where they can travel within the limits of the golden state and be better prepared to achieve greatness in our beloved sport.

Remember that “Iron, sharpens Iron” so join us on January 6th, 2018, to test the waters against the best at the USA Folkstyle Showcase.
